Between 1999 and 2003 opposing rebel groups fought the Liberian government in an attempt to overthrow President Charles Taylor. Thousands of people were displaced from their homes as a result of the conflict. Johnny Mad Dog portrays the atrocities of an ongoing civil war in an unnamed African nation, through the eyes of fifteen-year-old boy.
